Senator Mark in a goodwill message to the Muslim faithful signed by his Chief Press Secretary, urged them to pray for the nation and her people in order to overcome the trying times.
According to him, “More than any time else, the nation requires your support and prayer to triumph over forces of evil facing the nation. Our security operatives have been over stretched. Our people are daily being killed needlessly. Our only hope is in the divine intervention of the Almighty creator to salvage the situation.”
“It is has therefore become imperative that you commit yourselves to praying for the peace, unity and survival of Nigeria in this holy month of Ramadan.”
He also called for support and cooperation of all to the security operatives to combat the menace of insurgents ravaging the country.
The Senate President solicited religious tolerance between and among religious groups pointing out that in spite of the challenges especially insecurity, the unity of Nigeria should not be compromised.
Meanwhile, Senator Mark yesterday flagged off the construction of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Asa -Otukpo, Benue state during which he tasked Christians to be more dedicated to the service of God and humanity.
He told the congregation at the ceremony that “our existence as God’s creatures becomes more meaningful and worthwhile when we serve God and be of help to humanity especially to the less privileged.
“For me, my life has been full of testimonies; I have lived my entire life at the mercy and grace of the Almighty God. He has been faithful to me. I will always show appreciation and be part and parcel of His works.
“We will all work together and build this church. That is one way we can support God’s work”.
Senator Mark on behalf of his family made a donation of N2.1million towards the construction of the new church.
