Omokaro in Lagos said that the performance was evidence of the evolving world of African football.
The World Cup began on June 12 in Brazil and African countries namely Nigeria, Cote D’Ivoire, Algeria, Nigeria, Ghana and Cameroon were among the 32 teams participating.
So far, Cote’d Ivore, Nigeria and Algeria are on the brink of qualifying for the round of 16.
Although the hope of Ghana qualifying was slim they were able to hold Germany to a 2-2 draw in second Group G tie.
Omokaro said that it was very impressive and it was evident that African players and football in general were growing.
“There is great improvement if you compare the performance of the African teams. I am very happy with them so far and I hope they can keep fascinating us till the end,’’ he said.
Omokaro also insisted that Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, had the technical ability to overcome the Argentines in the last Group F game of the round of 32.
“We have faced the Argentines over and over again, so, it’s nothing new, because you can see the way the team had been transitioning from the first match against Iran and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
“I believe the coach is technically capable of pulling off a stunning victory, all we need to do now is to support the team and hope for the best,” he said.
Nigeria will play current group F leader, Argentina on Wednesday. (NAN)
