Eagles disappoint Brazilians

BRAZIL, Curitiba : A Nigerian fan is pictured prior to a Group F football match between Iran and Nigeria at the Baixada Arena in Curitiba during the 2014 FIFA World Cup on June 16, 2014. AFP PHOTO Since they landed in this samba country, Brazilians have shown great respect and warm reception to the African champions. Their victory hotel in Campinas is always filled with autograph seekers and their trainings have recorded massive turn-outs by the Brazilians who have not hidden their love for Nigeria.

Before and during the match against Iran, the sporadic shouts of Nigeria pronounced ‘Nijeria, Nijeria, Nijeria” was deafening as they clapped, sang and whistled.
But when the Nigerian players showed their lack of technical potentials, making faulty passes and the little-rated Iranians stood them toe to toe, the table turned. The Brazilians moved from Nijeria to Iran, Iran, Iran”.
The glut of stars in the Nigerian team had given the false sense that players they watch play for their favourite clubs would practically roast the debutants. Alas!
Questions have been asked by the few Brazilians who speak English while those who could not bear the disappointment of the Eagles dare show you signs of disappointment for your team.
