Football fans confident of Super Eagles World Cup squad

Soccer enthusiasts and administrators in Anambra on Tuesday, expressed confidence over the final list of the Super Eagles World Cup Squad to 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Coach Stephen Keshi had on Monday made public the list of 23 players for the Mundial.
Some of them who spoke  were optimistic that the team would excel at the tournament.
The Chairman of Anambra Football Association (FA), Jude Obikwelu, urged the team to re-enact the US ’94 Eagles spirit and do the nation proud.
He tasked the players to surpass the quarter-final limit of African teams.
Obikwelu, however, noted that Keshi had selected the best from the players available to him.
“There are no surprises in the team as the few dropped players were not so spectacular than the successful ones.
“To me, Sunday Mba is not such a spectacular player that we should miss so much.
“For Oduamadi, he is still young and the future of Nigerian football belongs to his age grade, what is important now is to focus on the tournament proper,’’ Obikwelu said.
A former Director in the Anambra Ministry of Sports, Cyprian Amuzie, however, regretted the absence of Ike Uche.
He implored Nigerians to standby the team, expressing optimism that Keshi was on the verge of repeating the Nations Cup experience.
“We have to work on our defence, Odulamni is good, I have my doubt about Yobo, he has the experience but he also needs strength.
“Shola Ameobi is a nice inclusion, they will do well, let us support them,” he said.
Another enthusiast, Tony Okafor, expressed hope on the chances of the team to perform creditably well during the World Cup.
He, however, faulted the non-inclusion of Mba in the list.
Okafor said that players like Mba were looking for opportunities to take their game to the next level.
He accepted that the current form and injury could have played a major role in the selection of the squad. (NAN)
