Senate releases criteria to screen ministerial nominees

The Senate of the 8th National Assembly on Thursday October 8, 2015 released the criteria it will follow to screen the 21 President ’s ministerial nominees.
7 Criteria Senate will use to screen ‘s ministerial nominees:
1. Every ministerial nominee must declare their assets,
2. Ministerial nominees must have a certificate of proof that they have declared their assets,
3. Ministerial nominees must be given certificates of proof by the Code of Conduct Bureau,
4. Ministerial nominees must have the support of two senators from their respective states,
5. Ministerial nominees, who are former members of the National Assembly, will be screened before non-members,
6. Ministerial nominees must have a clean bill of health from public petitions,
7. Ministerial nominees, who are former members of the National Assembly, will only be questioned by the president of the Senate.
