Man, 40 arrested for impregnating 16-yr-old mad girl in Jigawa

Operatives of Jigawa State command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, NSCDC, has apprehended one Abdullhamid Abbas, 40 year, for impregnating a mentally retarded 16-year-old girl.
The NSCDC also disclosed that the mentally-retarded teenager had delivered female twins in her parents house.
Abdulhamid, who lives at Mijirgan village of Miga local government area of Jigawa State, is yet to admit committing the crime.
The Commandant of the agency in the state, Gidado Muhammad, told newsmen over the weekend that the man had been arrested for impregnating an insane woman in Jigawa.
He further disclosed that the case was currently under investigation, adding the accused person would, thereafter be arraigned for prosecution.

Man, 28, bags 7 months in prison for stealing ram

An Upper Area Court sitting in Zuba, Abuja, on Thursday sentenced a 28-year-old man, Shamsudeen Usman, to seven months imprisonment for stealing a ram.
The Presiding Officer, Malam Aminu Sa’ad, sentenced Usman to two months in prison or fine of N5,000 for the offence of criminal trespass and five months, or pay a fine of N10,000 for theft.
The convict, who could not pay the fines, was, however, taken to prison.
Usman, a resident of Kubwa, was charged with the offences of criminal trespass and theft.
According to the report filed at Dutse-Alhaji Police Station, Usman unlawfully entered the premises of the complainant, Mr Sebastine Sossou, and stole a ram.
Sossou, a Pastor, had the ram given to him by one of his church members in Kubwa.
The convict, however, took the ram to livestock market at Dei-Dei with the intention of selling it, but was arrested by the police.
Usman pleaded guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Kelechi Echendu, informed the court that the offences contravened sections 287 and 348 of the Penal Code.

Man, 39, accused of raping 11-yr-old girl

The Police yesterday charged a man, Dunstan Ukaga, 39, before a Lagos Chief Magistrate’s Court, sitting at Ebute-Metta, for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl (names withheld).
The suspect, who is facing a count-charge of having unlawful carnal knowledge of the girl, preferred against him, was docked before Magistrate A. A. Demi-Ajayi.
The prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent Etim Ekankum, told the court that the defendant raped the minor several times between April 24 and September 28, at his residence at Road 311, Block 2, flat 6, at Festac Town area of the state.
He said the offence was punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
The defendant, who claimed to be a freelance journalist with a magazine, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate Demi-Ajayi admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum.
The magistrate ordered that the two sureties must deposit N30,000 each to account of the court’s Chief Registrar, and present to court evidence of three years tax payment to Lagos State government.
She also ordered that Ekankum duplicate the case file and forward it to the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, for advice.
She adjourned the case to November 26 for the outcome of DPP’s advice.

Man, 35, infects 12-yr-old groundnut hawker with HIV

THE police in Bauchi State, Tuesday, arrested a man, 35, for infecting a 12-year-old girl with Human Immuno Virus, HIV.
This was disclosed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, in Bauchi, yesterday, saying the man had been HIV positive and on medication since 2004.
According to him, the suspect had been sleeping with the girl, who is a groundnut hawker, since 2012.
He added that the girl was diagnosed with the disease when she started having strange symptoms.
Mohammed, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said: “On October 14, one Sabo Korau, a 35-year-old male of Unguwan Dawaki, Dass council of Bauchi State was arrested for having sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old girl, repeatedly, since 2012.
“When the victim began to show strange symptoms, she was taken to the hospital and was diagnosed HIV positive.”
He further said police’s preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect took advantage of the girl, adding that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation was concluded.
Meanwhile, Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Shehu Lawal, has ordered the dissolution of Bauchi State Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, which tenure expired since 2008.
According to him, the dissolution is with immediate effect.
He said all existing PCRC identity cards had been nullified, advising members in possession of same to hand them over to the nearest divisional police headquarters.

Man, 35, defiles 13-yr-old boy

A man, Ilesanmi Omojuyigbe, 35, has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old boy, Babatunde Adebayo, at Iju area of Ondo State.
Blogger reporters gathered that the victim was lured to the suspect’s room on the pretext that he wanted to buy frozen fish from the boy.
The victim, on entering the room, was said to have been held down and his trouser forcefully torn before the suspect defiled him.
His mouth was said to have been covered by the suspect so that his cries and shout would not attract neighbours to his house.
After the indecent act, the suspect appealed to the victim and promised to buy him whatever he wanted.
The matter was said to have been reported to the police, while the suspect was later arrested.
Police image maker, Wole Ogodo, said the suspect lived at 24, College road, Iju, in Akure North local government area of the state.
He pointed out that the suspect had confessed to the crime and would soon be charged to court.
In another development, Ogodo said four persons had been arrested for cultism in Okitipupa area of the state.
The suspects, according to him, are “Augustine Belief, 22, Adie Kelly, 22, Ikenna Ekenna Eze and Okepeke Ogechukwu, 28, all living in Okitipupa Town.”
Ogodo said other members of the group were still at large.

Man, 35, beaten to stupor for playing loud music in Ebonyi

A 35- -year-old man, Mr. Paul Igwe, was weekend beaten to stupor at Enyibuchiri Street, off Ezza Road, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, for disturbing his co-tenants by raising the volume of his musical set too high.
Igwe was allegedly beaten by his co-tenants, leaving him with deep cuts on the back of his  head as blood was seen gushing out from the injuries.
Journalist learnt that the victim was attacked after rejecting several appeals to lower the volume of his musical set, which had been constituting a nuisance to the environment.
The victim was, afterwards rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, FETHA, by his wife and concerned neighbours for medical treatment when it became obvious that he was lapsing into coma.
As at the time of this report, the victim who did want to speak on the matter, was still waiting to be discharged from the hospital as plaster was seen on the side of his head.

Man, 35, commits suicide in pool

A 35‑year old commercial motorcyclist, Ismaila Isa, yesterday committed suicide by jumping into a pool at Onipepeye area of Ibadan.
The incident which took many people by surprise attracted hundreds of sympathisers who continued to wonder why the man decided to choose death as an option.
The owner of the motorcycle said the deceased was not owing him, that he always gave him the agreed amount at the end of each day’s work.
According to an eyewitness, before his death, the Okada rider used to ply Adegbayi/Alakia/Gate axis.
The source said the deceased came from Adegbayi/Alakia end of the road, parked his bike and then jumped into the deep pool.
Before help could come his way, he had drowned.
It was gathered that other Okada riders and residents of the area were helpless as no one could save the drowning man.
The Oyo State Director of Fire Services, Oyekunle Kareem confirmed the incident, saying the man’s corpse had been handed over to the Police.
Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Olabisi Okuwobi‑Ilobanafor said the command was yet to be informed.
