PDP crisis deepens as party moves to sanction BoT member

THE tension generated over whether it is the upland or riverine that should produce the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State heightened yesterday, as the party threatened to sanction a chieftain and member of the Board of Trustees, BoT of the party, for convening a meeting of governorship aspirants of his riverine ethnic group within the party with a view to pruning down the number.
The party’s stalwart had recently convoked a meeting of contenders for the governorship seat in 2015 within the party, where he tried to scale the number to about three.
The PDP in a statement at the end of its state executive meeting in Port Harcourt, accused the BoT member of fraternising with leader of the All Progressive Congress, APC in the state, Governor Rotimi Amaechi, adding that members of the party should ignore any stakeholders meeting convened by the said party chieftain in the future.
