THE Senator representing Edo North senatorial district of Edo State in the National Assembly, Senator Domingo Obende, yesterday described the gale of impeachment in the country as legislative rascality being perpetrated by Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Domingo, who said that the leadership of PDP should be held responsible if the unity of the country was threatened with the way and manner APC governors were being impeached by PDP legislators, warned that the attempt to suppress the opposition in the country was dangerous.
He said: “What is happening is very surprising to some of us. There is danger around the corner because a political system that ought to be stable, thrives on impeachment threat and processes. It does not augur well for the country.
“The leadership of the National Assembly is matured, so we look at Nigeria as an entity that must be saved and of course, the whole of Africa is looking up to us. Are we going to be a giant in rascality?
“I see it as a clear parliamentary misbehaviour where governors who were given mandate by their people are not allowed to exercise their rights.
“There should be a repeal of the sections of the law on impeachment.”
